CREATIVE ARTS ACADEMY

2019 WINTER ARTS & CULTURE CAMP

FEBRUARY 18 - FEBRUARY 22, 2019

DESCRIPTION:

Community Folk Art Center (CFAC) will sponsor Creative Arts Academy (CAA) 2019 Winter Arts & Culture Camp for one week: February 18 – February 22, 2019 from 10:00am - 3:00pm. Drop off starting at 9:30am and pick up until 3:15pm. Transportation is not available.

Young creatives in grades 5-8 will be immersed in a cultural journey through the arts that will help them explore their voices and engage in an examination of freedom and community. This one-week experience will be based on principles from the Freedom Schools (created by SNCC in 1964) that promoted education meant to support young people becoming active agents in their own education.  At CFAC, we are particularly interested in exploring those principles through creative, reflective, and artistic experiences – and OF COURSE we will have fun along the way!

COST: $25

SCHEDULE:

Experiences will include music, dance, photovoice projects, visual art, and creative writing that relate to cultural and personal identity.  Campers will watch and analyze one film, and the session will feature a field trip Friday February 22, 2019 to the Corning Museum of Glass. Lunch and snacks will be provided each day.
