Black History Month

In celebration of Black History Month, The Community Folk Art Center strives to showcase African American Artists of the past and present in the preservation of Black-diasporic history and culture.

The month-long calendar of Black History Month events at the Community Folk Art Center includes celebrations of Black Artistry through visual art, poetry, dance, music, educational seminars, and more! Including Communiversity- open forum dialogs, A Journey Through Music (JMAD) – A Tribute to Donny Hathaway, and The Right To Read – Documentary Screening and Discussion in partnership with NAACP Onondaga County Branch. Alongside our calendar of events the Community Folk Art Center Presents exhibition, “Unveiled Echoes” by Jalen Law – which resurrects the forgotten narratives of Buffalo and the Erie Canal through augmented reality.
