CFAC Spring 2017 Class Schedule

TUESDAY

 

Beginners Wheelthrowing

Instructor: Katherine Hughes
Dates: January. 31 – April. 11, 2017 (10 weeks)
Time: 6:30pm – 8:30pm
Cost: $200 + $45 materials fee
$180 + $45 materials fee – student

 

For the more experienced student, join artist Katherine Hughes to explore more advanced techniques of wheelthrowing. This class will polish technique, as well as develop and refine your personal aesthetic. Hughes has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Syracuse University and has studied with world-renowned artist and CFAC co-founder, David MacDonald.

 

WEDNESDAY

 

Yoga For The Soul
Instructor: Desiree Odom
Dates: February 1 – March 29, 2017 (8weeks)
Time: 6:00pm –7:00pm
Cost: $65/$55 student/$10 per class

 

Join Holistic Desires founder, Desiree Odom, for a Yoga class that focuses on the mind, body, and soul. This class is for both beginners and more experienced students who wish to practice Yoga in a safe space.

 

Handbuilding

Instructor: EunJung Shin Vargas
Dates: February 1 – April 12, 2017 (10 weeks)
Time: 6:30pm- 8:30pm
Cost: $200 + $45 materials fee
$180 + $45 materials fee – student

 

This class provides students with intermediate techniques using slab, coil and pinch methods. Eunjung Shin Vargas holds a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics from Syracuse University and Kyunghee University in Korea. Beginners and Intermediate students
are welcome.

THURSDAY

 

Barre Method
Instructor: Brandon Ellis
Dates: February 2 – March. 30, 2017 (8 Weeks)
Time: 6:00pm – 7:00pm
Cost: $65/$55 student/$10 per class

 

Barre exercises rely mainly upon one’s bodyweight for resistance, and the moves strengthen your core, improving stability and balance. Barre workouts are designed to help you achieve a “dancer’s body” – strong, sleek, and streamlined. Brandon Ellis has trained with The Alvin Ailey American Dance Center.

 

Advanced/Intermediate Wheelthrowing
Instructor: Katherine Hughes
Dates: February 2 – April 13, 2017 (10 weeks)
Time: 6:30pm- 8:30pm
Cost: $200 + $45 materials fee
$180 + $45 materials fee – student

SATURDAY

Young Art Studio – Youth (ages 6-10)

Instructor: Tatiana Diaz

Dates: February 4 – March 18, 2017 (6 weeks)

Time: 10:00am -11:00am

Cost: $50/$45 students

 

Join us for an adventure in drawing! Students will learn basic techniques that will improve natural abilities and encourage their creativity and passion for art.

 

 

Hip Hop – Youth (ages 6-10)

Instructor: Nasir Muhammad

Dates: February 4 – March, 18 2017 (6 weeks)

Time: 11:00am- 12:00pm

Cost: $50/$45 student

 

Our Hip Hop students will learn basic dance movements and skills with an emphasis on various modern styles of Hip Hop in an upbeat, fun atmosphere.

  • Please indicate your form of payment. Payments are due the first day the scheduled workshop meets. If paying with a check, please make check payable to Community Folk Art Center.

*A $70 deposit is required for enrollment in the ceramics classes and 50% of the fee is due for all other classes. The balance must be paid by the first day of class. The class fee is not refundable after the first day of class, only materials fee. A $29 bank fee will be charged for any returned checks and must be paid by cash or money order.
